Wish list: Can’t Blame a Girl for Dreaming

I’m blessed with good friends and fond memories of my adventures so far. I have met some wonderful friends along the way, and I still feel that I have a long way ahead of me. There are still so many things I have yet to experience, so many places I have yet to explore and so many wonderful people that I want to call my friends.

Today, as I walked through the Aht Urghan Whitegate, I thought I’d make a wish list of some of the items I desire. Most of these are hard to come by, but I promise that I will work diligently to get one of my own. For this I will have to make room for some new events in my schedule, and even rethink my approach to get gil. Whether this means farming or doing my own KS fights remains to be seen, but I’m determined to get there.

Wish list: White Mage

Although some of the Marduk’s pieces would greatly benefit my White Mage, I think I’m going to focus mainly on my Black Mage for the time being. There are certain items that I need to look into getting for my White Mage though, that would also benefit my Scholar in the future:

Hedgehog Bomb

Ah, yes! The Hedgehog Bomb, a rare piece of equipment said to drop from the ENM called Brothers. I have done this fight a few times, but have only seen one drop so far, and sadly I didn’t get the highest lot for this piece. The bomb offers some much needed MP.

Intensifying Cape

There are a variety of capes around, but honestly not too sure about which one to pick. Errant Cape would be a nice goal in the long run, but for the time being I’m going to concentrate on getting an Intensifying Cape for the extra HP and MP. This would improve the potency of my Martyr and Devotion, and give me an extra bit of HP to keep me safe.

Wish list: Black Mage

Now, this is where it’ll get really interesting. Some of these items require a lot of effort and time, others luck I suppose.

Sorcerer's Petasos

The Potato™, or Sorcerer’s Petasos, is a powerful item desired by any Black Mage, and I’m hoping to get one soon. A few more Dynamis – Xarcabard runs and some luck and I hope I’m eligible to get one of these shiney~ hats.

Morrigan's Coronal

A legendary piece, the Morrigan’s Coronal is a compelling choice. Packing some much needed INT and MND, Magic Accuracy and even some Magic Attack Bonus. How could one go wrong?

Morrigan's Robe

Mewants! That’s about all I can say about the Morrigan’s Robe. The stats speaks for themselves. And oh so shiney~!

Zenith Mitts

Packs a lot of MP and some Magic Attack Bonus. So purrrdy!

Morrigan's Slops

Provides some nice MP, a ton of INT and MND and some more Enmity- to help ease the pain

Jet Seraweels

The Gnat From Hell™

Dust was flying in all direction as I landed in Meriphataud Mountains (S), teleporting from the Aht Urghan empire. Galadius coughed, while trying to brush off some of the fine powder that was now covering his clothes.

You know, you could give me a warning before you just teleport on top of me like that, he said a bit annoyed. How was I supposed to know you were standing there, my kitten, I asked him, grinning roguishly. Thank you for coming though, I really appreciate it, he told me before instructing me to rent a chocobo from one of the nearby chocobo renter. The lady had a variety of chocobos, but I quickly found the one for me. That will be 250 allied notes, ma’am. Be warned though that this chocobo has a bit of a temper, the lady told me. I paid the lady the notes that she asked and mounted my chocobo, riding south east.

Galadius led the way, while continuously inviting people from my linkshell to the party. The mountain range was filled with monsters of all shapes and sizes, but I wasn’t the least worried about the chocobo kicking me off it’s back. I have a way of keeping chocobos happy and calm, a trait I picked up from my father back in Lemith. Pet the chocobo and talking goes a long way of keeping them happy.

Our party quickly grew in number, and we ran into two adventurers already preparing to fight the same monster as we had planned to kill, so we ended up joining forces. I had partied plenty of times with one of the Black Mages in particular, Sealorik, back in Aydeewa Subterrane.

We all gathered at the south-eastern most edge of the map, near the entrance to the Karugo-Narugo fort entrance. Galadius looked through his bag, trying to find an item he had found in Castle Oztroja the day before, using some questionable means against the yagudos. Not that I really mind, those buggers really need to learn their place!

Ah, there we go Galadius mumbled, pulling a few gnat pellets out. Okay, now we wait everyone, he continued, explaining that we were about to lure a gnat out of it’s hiding with the pellets he had brought.

We sat down and played some cards, not entirely sure when the gnat Galadius was talking about would appear. About twenty minutes later we heard some buzzing in the distance. I can clearly hear a monster with insect wings approaching… I’d say we have about 45 seconds before it reaches us, I explained to the party. Being a mithra has a few traits, including superior hearing and sense of smell. We quickly got on our feet and hid behind a bush, a few feet away from where Galadius had left the pellets.

A fat gnat, covered in mud and what seemed like stained blood, landed near us, slowly walking toward our lure. Steady… steady… Galadius whispered. The gnat was now standing over the pellets, clearly enticed by the offering it had found. Attack, Galadius suddenly cried out, making everyone jump out our hiding, running charging at the gnat.

Bloodlapper

The gnat, or Bloodlapper as some call it, was really surprised, but couldn’t escape, so started attacking us instead. It unleashed some devastating detrimental effects, causing everyone to get plagued. I quickly cured everyone, trying to keep them healthy. Our Black Mages launched nuke after nuke, steadily bringing the gnat’s stamina down. The gnat defended itself very well, dishing out all sorts of obscene status effects, making me have to work that much harder. Now, I like challenges, but personally I thought the gnat went a little overboard with all it’s attacks.

Bloodlappers attacks quickly subsided as we managed to defeat it. Everyone cheered, happy that it was finally over. I guess I was the one smiling the most, as it was all over. The Gnat From Hell™ was finally dead.

Galadius walked over to the gnat, pushing it to the side with his foot, before he crouched down to his knees, examining the gnat. What are you doing, I asked him, clearly disturbed by the mere sight of the fallen gnat. It had the worst smell ever, and it looked really filthy. Well, what do you think I’m doing, Galadius said, as he reached his hand down the gnat’s throat. My jaw dropped, and I had to turn away. There! Found it, he cried out, pulling out a pair of Vicious Mufflers. We all congratulated him, but I must admit that the mere thought of wearing a piece of equipment found inside that gnatmade me a little sick in my stomach.

Vicious Mufflers

Having said that, though, the stats speaks for themselves. I guess I’ll have to look into getting a pair of my own, but I’ll be sure to wash them over and over and over and over!

Wild Wild Whiskers

One of the sanest, surest, and most generous joys of life comes from being happy over the good fortune of others.
- Robert A. Heinlein

The sun was about to set as me, Hitz and Biscuits were about to enter the battlegrounds of Balga’s Dais. An eery wind swept over the mountain range — I knew something bad was about to happen. I preyed for my ancestors’ blessings as Hitz sat down on his knees and took out his moon orb. The glowing circle responded by flashing and giving an evil, but warm sensation. Suddenly, wave of energy engulfed us before we were transported inside the battlegrounds.

«Phew! Can’t get used to that,» I said to the other two, as I brushed off some sand that had blown toward us as we got sucked into the arena. Hitz responded by laughing; «Well, let’s just hope lady luck is with us tonight!»

I covered my two linkshell friends in a magical protective shell before we approached the coeurl, Macan Gadangan. Macan roared loudly, marking his territory. We had clearly walked into his turf, and he was not happy. The coeurl charged at us, but quickly blinded by Hitz who was our ninja for the night.

Wild Wild Whiskers

I cast silence on Macan to stop him from casting any nasty spells, but he answered by petrifying Hitz instead. I quickly undid the attack by casting Stona, and we were back in the game again. Biscuits continued to shoot the giant catlike creature over an over, before dishing out some big numbers using barrage. Macan responded by swiftly putting Biscuits to the ground and knocking him out. «That never gets old,» Hitz snickered.

After raising Biscuits, things started to heat up. «Wait, what’s that,» I shouted to Hitz, as Macan’s whiskers began to twitch violently. He was clearly casting something, and I prepared a barrier spell to keep Macan from damaging our party heavily. The Burst he cast on us did no damage as it was deflected by Hitz’s shadows. «Come again,» Biscuits said, imitating some waitresses he had heard in a Bastokkan tavern.

Upon killing Macan, we found a treasure chest that he had guarded with his life. Hitz walked over and opened the chest, finding a Penitent’s Rope. It was Hitz’s loot as he had brought the orb, and I was happy for him since he had been hunting for this orb for a long time.

I’m actually hoping to do a few more runs like this with my linkshell, hoping that I can dispose of some of the many orbs I have… and I really need the gil!
